2608BS: the queen gets a slide of its own

Forest River's drawing puts the queen in a slide on the off-door side at the rear, with overhead cabinets across its head and a wardrobe in the door-side rear corner. The front of the trailer is the kitchen: sink and overhead cabinets across the front wall, microwave and cooktop on the door side, and the fridge just behind them. A second off-door slide ahead of the bedroom holds a 67-inch theater seat and the 44-inch dinette, with options drawn for a 68-inch hide-a-bed and for a table and chairs.

Between the two ends is a compact bath with a round shower, toilet, sink, and linen cabinet, and a pantry on its door side. There are two Solid Step entries, one near the kitchen and one near the bedroom, under a 21 ft awning.

What sets the 2608BS apart from the other three 29 ft 8 in plans is that pairing of a bed slide with a living slide that carries both seating pieces. The 2619FK uses the same two-slide shell differently, and the 302RDT and 2621RB put the bed at the front instead. The cost is weight: the 2608BS is 559 lb heavier than the 302RDT and publishes 106 lb more at the hitch.

RVUSA lists two slides and sleeping for up to 3. The weights put the 2608BS in the middle of the line: 6 of 11 by dry weight, and 6 of 11 by cargo carrying capacity at 1,826 lb. Its GVWR of 8,702 lb leaves that same 1,826 lb over dry weight, 5 of 9 among plans with a GVWR on record. Tanks total 189 gal with a 90 gal gray tank, and it stands 11 ft 2 in tall, 2 ft 4 in under a 13 ft 6 in clearance.

Four stops on a 2608BS walkthrough

  1. Bring both slides in and walk from the kitchen-end entry to the bedroom-end entry. This is the trailer you get at a fuel stop, so check that the bath, the fridge, and the bed can all be reached with the slides closed.
  2. Sit at the 44-inch dinette with someone on the theater seat beside it. Both share one slide, so see whether the table and the seat work for two people doing different things.
  3. Open the pantry and linen cabinet by the round shower. Most of the mid-trailer storage is concentrated there, next to the bath.
  4. Look at the hitch figure with the kitchen loaded. The 2608BS publishes 902 lb at the hitch, 13.1% of dry weight, the highest share in the line and tied with the 2711RK. Anything packed into the front kitchen and the front exterior storage adds to that empty-trailer figure.
