Rockwood Mini Lite 2108RB

At 22 ft 2 in, the 2108RB is the shortest Rockwood Mini Lite, with a bath across the rear wall and a Murphy bed that shares the front of the trailer with a dinette. Its hitch weight is also the largest share of dry weight in the line.

The 2108RB turns its bedroom into a dinette

Forest River's drawing prints two labels on the same front floor: a 60 by 74 inch Murphy bed and a 30 by 80 inch dinette, with a wardrobe on each side and a shelf on the front wall. The one slide, across the aisle from the kitchen, holds a 72-inch theater seat under overhead cabinets. The kitchen runs along the door side (fridge, microwave under the cooktop, sink, TV), a pantry stands on the off-door side, and the bath takes the whole rear wall: shower in one corner, then toilet, sink, and a linen cabinet in the other.

The case for it is length and weight together. No Mini Lite is shorter, and only the 2109S is lighter than its 4,768 lb. RVUSA's GVWR of 6,389 lb sits 1,621 lb above dry weight, exactly Forest River's published cargo capacity, and that margin ranks 2 of 5 among the Mini Lite plans that carry a GVWR on this site.

What the fold-down bed and the 13.4% hitch share cost

A Murphy bed over a dinette means the front of this trailer is one room at a time. Forest River prints the Murphy bed and the dinette in the same front space, so the thing to learn on the lot is how the two share it: whether the table stays usable with the bed lowered, and how much work it is to fold the bed away each morning. Couples who eat outside or live on the theater seat may not mind. Couples who want a table after dinner will.

The second cost shows up on the scale. The published 640 lb hitch weight is 13.4% of dry weight, the highest share of the 13 plans. The 2109S, two inches longer, publishes 557 lb on a trailer 296 lb lighter. Both are figures for the empty trailer, and on the 2108RB the two wardrobes, the front shelf, and both pass-through bays sit at the hitch end, so what gets packed there moves the loaded number.

  1. Lower the 60 by 74 inch Murphy bed and raise it again without help, the way you would each morning, and see what becomes of the dinette while the bed is down.
  2. Bring the slide in and walk from the Solid Step entry to the rear bath and the pantry. With the theater seat closed in, that aisle is the route at every fuel stop.
  3. Stand in the rear bath with a second person at the sink. The bath spans the full rear wall, so check that the shower, toilet, and linen cabinet can all be reached with the door closed.
  4. Decide what goes into the two wardrobes, the front shelf, and the pass-through bays before choosing a hitch setup. All of them sit at the hitch end, and the 640 lb figure is for the empty trailer.
