Basecamp

Airstream builds one Basecamp floor plan for 2027 and sells it two ways. The Xe 20X adds 250 lb and an inverted electric system, and still publishes the lower hitch weight.

Every 2027 Basecamp floor plan

One 20X floor plan, two Basecamp builds

The Basecamp line does not group by length or bed count, because both plans share them: 20 ft 2 in long, 9 ft 5 in tall, sleeping up to 4, with the same 23 gal fresh, 28 gal gray, and 21 gal black tanks, 72 gal in all. Airstream's two renders draw the same arrangement: a U-shaped dinette with a swivel table in the rounded front, a wet bath and a galley facing each other midship, and two long rear benches that make up into the rear convertible bed. Every sleeping place is converted seating.

What separates them is equipment. Airstream lists an efficient mid-ship galley for the Basecamp 20X, whose render shows a two-burner stove, and a fully inverted electric system for the Xe 20X, whose spec page lists a 1500 W portable single burner induction cooktop.

Where the Basecamp 20X and Xe 20X part ways

Dry weight20X lighter by 250 lb3,500 lb against 3,750 lb
GVWRXe higher by 200 lb4,300 lb against 4,500 lb
Hitch weightXe lower by 29 lb535 lb (15.3% of dry weight) against 506 lb (13.5%)

The Xe is the heavier trailer and still publishes the lower hitch weight. The two drawings place every room the same way, so the gap is not a change of floor plan.

What Airstream's Basecamp weights cover

Airstream publishes dry weight as Unit Base Weight and cargo as Net Carrying Capacity (NCC). On both builds the capacity equals GVWR minus base weight exactly, 800 lb and 750 lb, which is arithmetic from the published pairs. Both are empty-trailer figures, as is the hitch weight; the tongue weight and payload guide explains how loading changes it. The heights are given with the air conditioner, and the product headlines round the length to 20 feet where the spec tables give 20 ft 2 in.

The Basecamp against the site's other travel-trailer lines

Among the travel trailers on this site, the Basecamp's closest match by size is Keystone's Coleman 17B, which shares the 20 ft 2 in length and 9 ft 5 in height. The 17B is lighter at 3,071 lb, publishes a 398 lb hitch weight and 1,229 lb of cargo capacity, and sleeps up to 5 on a queen bed and single bunks. The shortest Rockwood, the Mini Lite 2108RB, is 22 ft 2 in and 4,768 lb, with a Murphy bed over its front dinette and a 53 gal fresh tank. Next to both, the Basecamp is the plan built around seating that becomes beds.
