Five sleeping places on the 17B's single axle
Keystone's tagline reads "Single axle, non-slide, single bunks". On the drawing the rear is split in two: a bunk bed along the off-door wall, and a bath across the door-side corner with the shower in the corner and the toilet on the rear wall. A booth dinette with overhead cabinets takes the middle of the off-door wall. The galley runs along the rear half of the door side with the refrigerator and microwave, a two-burner cooktop, a sink and overhead cabinets. At the front, the queen, 60x74 with underbed storage per the features list, lies crosswise with its head to the off-door wall, next to a shelf and a door-side wardrobe.
The 17B sleeps up to 5, 4 of 10 in the line and more than any Coleman shorter than the 19B. It does that at 3,071 lb dry, 6 of 10 lightest, with a 398 lb hitch weight that works out to 13% of dry weight, 4 of 10 lowest. Its published height of 9 ft 5 in is the lowest of the ten.
The tradeoff is a fixed box. With no slide, the dinette and the galley sit on opposite walls of one aisle, and the bunk and the bath share the rear wall. Cargo is 1,229 lb, 7 of 10, which is 235 lb more than the 13B bunk plan but has to cover up to five people and the 21 gal fresh tank when it is full. Unlike the 13-series bunk plans, the 17B lists a propane tank, a 2 burner gas range, a 20,000 BTU furnace and a 42,000 BTU tankless water heater.

One comparison crosses brands because the published length and height are identical; the other two are the Colemans a 17B shopper is most likely to weigh it against.
Published at the same length and height. The 20X is 429 lb heavier and 137 lb heavier at the hitch, sleeps 1 fewer, and carries 429 lb less cargo. Airstream lays it out with a front U-shaped dinette, a mid-ship galley and wet bath, and a rear convertible bed rather than bunks.
Open record →The same size without the bunkColeman 17R3 in longer but 10 lb lighter, with a hitch 30 lb lower and 10 lb more cargo. It gives the rear to a full-width bath and sleeps 2 fewer.
Open record →The next bunkhouse, with a slideColeman 19B3 ft 5 in longer, 1,169 lb heavier and 204 lb heavier at the hitch. It sleeps 2 more, carries 231 lb more cargo, and moves its dinette into a flush floor slide out.
Open record →Testing the 17B's bunk-and-dinette aisle
- Sit at the booth dinette while someone stands at the galley sink. They face each other across the one aisle, so check whether a third person can pass.
- Ask how Keystone reaches five. The drawing labels a bunk bed and a queen, so find out whether the dinette converts and who sleeps where.
- Climb into the bunk with the bath door open. The bunk and the bath share the rear wall, so check the door swing and the step down from the bunk.
- Open the pass-through storage at the front door-side corner, which the features list as full pass-through, and see what fits under the queen with its underbed storage.

17B: Keystone's figures, Airstream's for comparison
Figures, the tagline and the drawing come from Keystone's 2027 Coleman 17B page, read on 2026-09-26. Keystone publishes one Height figure and labels dry weight Shipping Weight and cargo Carrying Capacity. The non-slide description is Keystone's tagline. The 398 lb hitch weight is Keystone's figure for the empty trailer, so bunk gear, water and propane loaded ahead of the axle raise it. The Basecamp 20X figures in the comparison are Airstream's, as recorded on that plan's page on this site.
