Why the pin weight is the headline
Keystone publishes 1,775 lb of hitch weight for the 320RDS. That is less than the 260MLE's 1,895 lb on a body 5 ft 11 in longer, and 345 lb less than the 316RLS one plan down the lineup. Against a dry weight of 11,283 lb it works out to 15.7%, 2 of 16 lowest across all 16 Cougars; only the Half-Ton 28RLI, at 15.6%, puts a smaller share on the truck. RVUSA's 2027 guide gives it a 13,750 lb GVWR, the highest of the eight plans with one, and GVWR minus dry comes to 2,467 lb, the largest margin of those eight and the same number Keystone publishes as carrying capacity; that agreement is arithmetic between two sources, not a third figure.
The plan is 36 ft 10 in long, 12 of 16 shortest, 3 ft 2 in inside a 40-foot pad, with three slides, sleeping for 6, and the plain-subline tank package of 75, 76, and 38 gallons. Keystone's tagline is 'Rear Den w/ Huge L-shaped Sofa'. Named features: the rear den with its L-shaped sofa, a 5,500 BTU electric fireplace, a queen or king bed option, a full wardrobe with sliding mirror doors, a residential-style kitchen with a bench seat and two free-standing chairs, a large shower with glass door and skylight, full pass-through storage with LED lighting, auto-leveling, frameless dual-pane windows, and an electric awning.
A rear den does to the floor what a rear living room does: the largest piece of furniture on the plan, the L-shaped sofa, sits behind the axles, and the published pin weight is low for a plan this long. The tradeoff is at the table. The seating Keystone names for meals is the bench seat and the two free-standing chairs in the residential-style kitchen, so the den is the sitting room and the kitchen doubles as the dining room, and both have to work with the slides in.

Three plans that also put a big sofa or a living room at the rear. Differences are arithmetic from both records' published figures.
Keystone's tagline for the 26RES is a rear L-shape sectional with the best campside view. It is 5 ft 11 in shorter, 3,043 lb lighter, and 235 lb lighter on the pin, with one slide instead of three, sleeping for 4 instead of 6, 407 lb less carrying capacity, and 144 gallons of tanks against 189. RVUSA's GVWR for it is 3,450 lb lower, 10,300 lb.
Open record →Living room instead of den, king bed, bigger bathCougar 316RLS1 ft 2 in shorter and 173 lb lighter, but 345 lb heavier on the pin and 677 lb short on carrying capacity at 1,790 lb. Same three slides, same sleeping capacity. Its tagline names a king bed and an oversized bathroom; the 320RDS lists the bed as a queen or king option.
Open record →The other L-sofa, with the kitchen at the rearCougar 350LLK2 ft 5 in longer, 757 lb heavier, and 465 lb heavier on the pin, with a fourth slide and 493 lb more carrying capacity, the highest in the lineup at 2,960 lb. It sleeps 4 rather than 6. Keystone gives it an L-sofa with recliners and moves the kitchen to the rear.

Four stops, back to front
Start at the back because the den is why this plan exists.
- Sit at every position on the L-shaped sofa with the slides out, then close the slides and see which seats survive. Keystone calls the sofa huge; the closed-slide den is what you get on a travel day.
- Move forward to the kitchen and set the bench seat and both free-standing chairs at the counter as if for a meal. This is the only dining seating Keystone names, and the chairs need a place to ride for travel.
- Ask which bed the unit on the lot carries. Keystone lists the bedroom as a queen or king option, and the choice changes the walk-around room beside the full wardrobe with its sliding mirror doors.
- Finish under the trailer at the pass-through storage and the auto-leveling controls. With 2,467 lb of carrying capacity and a 1,775 lb pin, note where the bay sits relative to the axles, because weight ahead of them lands on the pin and weight behind them does not.
Where the 320RDS figures come from
Keystone's 2027 Cougar 320RDS floor-plan page: dimensions, weights, carrying capacity, tanks, sleeping capacity, tagline, and feature list, read 2026-08-15 for the figures and 2026-09-12 for the layout text. RVUSA's 2027 spec guide: the 13,750 lb GVWR and the count of three slides, both cited in the Source details panel. Keystone's 13 ft 4 in is published as height, with the roof air conditioner folded into that one figure.
