Five slides and 82 gal of fresh water: the 398FL in the lineup
The 398FL's sectional sofa and fireplace at the front, king bed and bath at the rear
Forest River's 2027 drawing is the only Cedar Creek plan that makes the front of the trailer the living room: a sectional sofa in an opposite-wall bump-out, an entertainment center with a fireplace on the awning wall, and a countertop and topper cabinet beside the steps to the middle of the coach. There, the kitchen bump-out holds a pantry, overhead cabinets, a microwave, and the fridge, with a hutch and more overhead cabinets across from a sink island and a table with chairs in the awning-side bump-out. At the rear, the bedroom has a king bed, an overhead-cabinet bump-out, a dresser with a TV above, and a linen cabinet, and the rear bath has a seated shower, a closet, and washer and dryer prep. A drop-down storage label sits on the rear wall and a 21 ft awning on the side.
That is the shortlist case: a buyer who wants the living room and its fireplace at the front, and the bedroom and bath together at the back, has one plan to look at in this family. The numbers are kinder to it than the arrangement suggests. A front living room puts the sectional and entertainment center at the pin end, yet the published pin weight is 2,670 lb, 4 of 8 lightest, and cargo capacity ranks 3 of 8.
The tradeoff is privacy of the only shower. The drawing places it in the rear bath, beyond the king bed, so the route to it from the living room runs past the king bed. With one shower and 41 gal of black capacity, a household that hosts overnight guests should walk that route before deciding.

Checks for the 398FL's front sectional and rear bath
- With all five slides in, walk from the front steps to the rear bath, past the sectional, kitchen, and table bump-outs; this is the path you will use at a fuel stop.
- Sit on the sectional and look at the entertainment center and fireplace across the room; the steps down to the kitchen sit beside the countertop and topper cabinet, so check where people walk past the seating.
- Open the closet and washer and dryer prep in the rear bath and decide whether appliances go in; weight there sits at the far end from the pin.
- Stand in the rear bedroom and trace the route a guest takes from the front sectional to the shower.
Four-slide and three-slide Cedar Creeks against the 398FL
Each gives up the fifth slide for something else. Differences are arithmetic from the published figures.

Open record →Where the 398FL's five-slide figures come from
The slide count, weights, length, tanks, height, and cargo capacity come from Forest River's 2027 Cedar Creek 398FL page, last checked on 2026-08-15. Room positions are read from the labels on Forest River's 2027 398FL floor-plan drawing on 2026-09-26. The sleeping capacity in the table is from RVUSA's 2027 spec guide. Forest River presents the dry weight and cargo capacity as estimated averages for a standard build, so the pin share quoted here describes the published trailer, and the label on the exact unit, weighed with its options, is the one to tow by.
