3,490 lb on the pin: what the 3800FL's front living room costs
A front living room moves furniture over the pin, and the 3800FL's published figures are consistent with that. Its hitch weight of 3,490 lb is 3 of 3 in the family, the heaviest, and at 20.8% of its 16,750 lb dry weight it is also the highest pin share of the three. The 3900RK is 1 ft 3 in longer and 335 lb heavier, yet Keystone lists it at 85 lb less on the pin. For a buyer choosing a truck, that pin figure, more than the length, is the number to size payload around.
What the plan returns for that weight is a living room at the far end of the trailer from the bed. Keystone's tagline reads "Front Living Room" and closes on "Master Suite", and the drawing fills the front with a sofa in each side slide, facing each other, and an entertainment center with fireplace and TV across the front wall. Theater seating and a coffee bar face forward from behind them. The kitchen sits mid-ship: a center island with the sink and dishwasher prep, the range and a 20 cu ft 12-volt refrigerator in the road-side slide, and a desk with a pull-out dinette opposite. A small room with sink and toilet is drawn beside the bedroom steps, and the rear bath spans the back wall with shower, two sinks, and washer and dryer prep.
At 42 ft 7 in the 3800FL runs 2 ft 7 in past a 40-foot pad. Its 2,740 lb cargo capacity ranks 2 of 3, and its tanks total 277 gal, with a 100 gal black tank.

Follow this order on the lot; each step depends on the front-living, rear-bath arrangement.
- Close all slides with you standing in the front living room. Both sofas ride in slides that face each other, so with them in, check that you can still reach the entertainment center and the pull-out TV Keystone marks on the door side.
- Walk back past the coffee bar and theater seating. The drawing marks interior steps here and again at the bedroom end of the kitchen; climb both, since the living room and the bedroom sit at opposite ends of the kitchen.
- At the island, open the pull-out trash can and towel drawer and the dishwasher prep space with the road-side slide closed. The range and refrigerator ride in that slide.
- Finish in the rear bath. The washer and dryer prep is drawn there beside the shower, and the two sinks share the back wall with the toilet. If appliances go in, their weight sits at the opposite end of the trailer from the pin.
Other Montanas for a buyer weighing the 3800FL
The family has one shorter plan and one longer one. Differences below are arithmetic from the published figures.
1,720 lb lighter dry and 490 lb lighter on the pin at 3,000 lb, with the same four sleeping places and 1,230 lb more cargo capacity. The living room moves to the rear wall, the black tank halves to 50 gal, and the trailer fits a 40-foot pad with 4 ft 1 in to spare.
Open record →Rear kitchen at nearly the same sizeMontana 3900RK1 ft 3 in longer and 335 lb heavier, but 85 lb lighter on the pin. It sleeps 6 instead of 4 and adds 50 gal of gray capacity for 327 gal of tanks in total, while cargo capacity drops by 420 lb to 2,320 lb.

Where the 3800FL figures come from, and the roof figure
Every figure on this page comes from Keystone's 2027 Montana 3800FL page, checked on 2026-08-15. The layout and tagline come from the same page and its 2027 drawing, read on 2026-09-26, when the specification table still matched the figures shown here. Keystone marks the 3800FL as a new floor plan.
Keystone gives the exterior height as one number, 13 ft 4 in, and labels it without separating the A/C. The feature list names a main air conditioner and smaller second and third units, so measure the tallest point on the actual unit; the published figure leaves 2 in under a 13 ft 6 in clearance.
