The shortest, lightest Montana High Country, and the one with the most cargo capacity: 33 ft 11 in, 12,275 lb dry, 3,980 lb to carry. A sofa spans the rear wall, and the kitchen works around a center island.

290RL: 6 ft 1 in of room on a 40 ft pad

At 33 ft 11 in the 290RL is 1 of 3 on length in the High Country lineup, 1 ft shorter than the 300RK and 10 ft shorter than the 391TB, and it leaves 6 ft 1 in of a 40-foot pad open. It is also the lightest at 12,275 lb dry. The figure that sets it apart is cargo carrying capacity: 3,980 lb, 1 of 3, which is 820 lb more than the 300RK and 1,060 lb more than the 391TB. For a buyer who travels with heavy gear, that margin is the reason to start here.

Read Keystone's drawing from the pin back. First comes a king bedroom with wardrobe, dresser, and washer and dryer prep; then a bath with shower and linen closet; then the entry steps with a pantry beside them. Behind that is one open room. Its kitchen is split between an island holding the sink and pull-out dog dishes, and the road-side slide with the range, a 16 cu ft 12-volt refrigerator (an 18 cu ft unit is drawn as an option), a second pantry, and a pivoting entertainment center with fireplace and TV. The door-side slide carries theater seating and a desk with pull-out dinette, and the rear wall is a sofa between two end tables, which is what the tagline's opening words, "Rear Living Room", describe.

Lighter trailer, heavier pin: the 290RL's 18.4%

The 290RL is 265 lb lighter than the 300RK but publishes 200 lb more hitch weight, 2,255 lb against 2,055 lb. Its pin share is 18.4% of dry weight, the highest of the three; the 300RK's is 16.4% and the 391TB's 17.6%. Those percentages are arithmetic from Keystone's own figures.

The two short plans differ mainly in which end holds the kitchen. The 300RK puts its range, sink, refrigerator, and pantry at the rear. The 290RL puts the sofa and theater seating there and moves the kitchen forward to mid-ship. The drawings fit the gap in pin share, though that is an inference, not a measured weight split. For a truck, size payload around 2,255 lb before anything goes into the washer and dryer space in the front bedroom.

Three checks for the 290RL's rear sofa and island

  • Swing the pivoting entertainment center and sit first in the theater seating, then on the rear sofa. The fireplace and TV sit in the road-side slide between the two seating areas, and the angle to each is what the pivot is for.
  • Ask which refrigerator is fitted. The drawing shows a 16 cu ft 12-volt unit with an optional 18 cu ft one, and Keystone's feature list describes the option as 110-volt with a 2000w inverter, which matters if you camp away from hookups.
  • With every slide in, walk from the entry steps past the island to the rear sofa. The island does not move, so its clearance to the closed kitchen and theater-seating slides is the aisle you get on travel days.

290RL against the rear-kitchen 300RK and the two-bedroom 391TB

Only two other High Country plans exist, and they answer different questions. Differences are computed from the published figures.

290RL: Keystone's page on two dates, and the A/C question

Figures come from Keystone's 2027 Montana High Country 290RL page, checked on 2026-08-21 and read again with its 2027 drawing on 2026-09-26, when the specification table still matched.

Exterior height is published as one figure, 13 ft 4 in (160 in on the table), and Keystone labels it without separating the A/C. The High Country feature list includes a bedroom air conditioner as standard and a third unit as an option, so put the height over the tallest shroud on your measuring list; the published figure is 2 in under 13 ft 6 in.
