Grand Design Influence vs Solitude
Both are 101-inch widebody Grand Design fifth-wheel families with overlapping lengths and chassis features. Influence begins at a lower listed MSRP and includes two large family plans; Solitude has more current floor plans, a higher top GVWR, and additional lounge, mid-bunk, and rear-kitchen choices.

What the families share
Grand Design currently lists a worry-free roof, MORryde independent suspension, OmniConnect preparation, 17.5-inch H-rated tires, a 101-inch widebody chassis, Stealth 3+ air-conditioning system, and a factory solar package for both families. Shared feature names should move the comparison toward the physical floor plan, exact standard and optional equipment, delivered cargo label, and price quote.
The families also overlap at the compact end. Influence starts with the 34-foot-5-inch 2903RL; Solitude starts with the 34-foot-4-inch 310GK. That one-inch headline difference does not make them equivalent. Their delivered weights, GVWRs, cabinets, seating, storage, option packages, and prices must be compared as complete units.
Where Influence makes the stronger shortlist
Influence has two current plans below 35 feet and four below 40 feet. Its 3203GK is the clear rear-kitchen choice in a 35-foot-11-inch body. At the large end, the 3804DS provides two full bedrooms and bathrooms, while the 3904BH provides bunks, a workstation, convertible dining, outside-access half bath, and outdoor kitchen. Those two plans create family-oriented choices with listed capacities of seven and nine.
The manufacturer's current starting MSRP is also $32,767 lower for Influence than Solitude. That gap is useful for line positioning, but buyers need written, option-matched dealer quotes; it does not establish the real difference between two available units.
Where Solitude makes the stronger shortlist
Solitude currently offers nine plans and a broader set of room arrangements. The official lineup includes rear-den, front-living, mid-bunk, rear-kitchen, and other specialized plans alongside the compact 310GK and 370DV. Five-slide options appear in the current table, while Influence tops out at four slides. Solitude also lists a 20-cubic-foot refrigerator in its standard solar-package description, compared with 16 cubic feet for Influence.
The 414LJMJ extends the Solitude ratings beyond the rest of either family with a 23,500-pound GVWR and 19,000-pound UVW. That is not automatically an advantage: it is a different towing and carrying proposition that requires exact truck and hitch analysis.
A defensible decision sequence
- Choose the required room type before comparing model-line prestige.
- Set a measured exterior-length limit for storage and intended campsites.
- Compare the two or three floor plans that survive those filters.
- Get configuration-matched quotes and exact-unit labels.
- Check payload, axle, tire, hitch, trailer, and combined ratings; then verify the loaded combination by axle on a scale.
